Bastian Hand-Knotted Jute Rugs
Hand-knotted from 100% natural jute fibres, Bastian balances the raw, organic character of the material with a more considered, textural construction. The surface is defined by an alternating looped and cut pile, creating variation in both height and finish. At approximately 2.5cm pile height, the rug has a deeper, more substantial feel underfoot, softening the typically firm nature of jute while maintaining its durability.
The interplay between loop and cut sections introduces subtle contrast across the surface, allowing light to shift and adding a sense of movement within the weave. Natural tonal variation in the jute yarn further enhances this depth, giving each piece a slightly irregular, lived-in quality. Edges are kept simple, allowing the material and texture to remain the focus. Bastian brings a grounded, tactile presence to interiors: organic in fibre, yet more elevated in finish.
