Velvet Cushions
Velvet is a construction rather than a fibre. The pile is woven double and cut apart, leaving fibre ends standing upright, and it is those upright ends that catch light and give velvet its depth: brush the surface one way and it darkens, the other and it lifts.
At Weave, that surface is achieved in polyester rather than silk, which is a deliberate choice. Polyester holds the pile upright under daily use where a natural velvet would crush, resists fading in bright rooms, and cleans far more forgivingly. The result is the hand feel of velvet on a cushion that can actually live on a sofa.
Three ranges sit in this collection, each reading differently. Ava carries a soft printed texture across more than twenty colourways, making it the everyday option. Francesca pairs a plush velvet face with a linen micro-flange for a more tailored edge. Tempo works in chunky chenille with a piped finish, a softer and more matte expression of the same idea.
The palette runs deep and saturated through to soft neutrals, because velvet holds tonal colour with more richness than a flat weave. Use it as the contrast layer against linen and bouclé, where the difference in surface does the styling work.
